One room, three spaces....

There was no contest for the purpose of the second master bedroom
...it had to be children-focussed.
But the big question was:
How Should That Be Done?

Option number one was to turn it into a large multi-functional room
...a little bit like this gorgeous children's bedroom....

via Apartment Therapy

I love the way this unisex room has used every bit of space to create private bedroom nooks for two children...and squeezed in a great play area too. Plus the colour-scheme is great - it somehow manages to look feminine AND boyish at the same time. No mean feat!!

But would this work for us as a family?
Next week, I'll be sharing what we've chosen...

Hello sunshine!!!!
This room is amazing!
I love it, and you know, I remember when I had the two colours mentioned here (red and taupe) together in our boys room.
I had painted the walls taupe and the blinds were a gorgeous and striking red!
It was lovely!
I can't wait to see what you've decided on.
Love to you!!

All my heart,

i think the proof is in the expressions on the children's faces and if you study them you find:

pride
and
contentment.

you sound like you're on to something brilliant, lovely.

Oh, what a gorgeous room! If my kids had one like that, they wouldn't come out for a week! I can't wait to see what you do with the space.

I browsed all your master bedroom posts last night, and it truly does look like a haven. It is so calming and cozy and your built-in cupboards are gorgeous!

I love the red, white and taupe combination. My teenaged son has a bedroom that is taupe, gold and red. He has always loved red.

What a great room. I wonder what is in the space under the boys bed? It's a shame that his bed area doesn't have as much light as the girls. I love the play area, and I have a bit of a thing for red at the moment - I'm wanting to use it in the baby's room. Looking forward to seeing what you have chosen. Have a great weekend!

That's funny Sarah, I was just looking at that bedroom last night...I was reading some Aussie Mags I've had for ages and that entire home is just great...I think it's in QLD in Real Living. I think the idea of the combined bedroom/playroom is terrific with so many possibilities. Robx

I love that room. Wouldn't kids just love to live in that room?! I know I would have when I was younger. My two oldest, boy and girl shared while they were young and they loved it. Can't wait to see how you decide to put the room together. Hope you're feeling well. I'm sure you look as beautiful as ever :) Hugs, Valerie

Cool. Why didn't they have rooms like that when I was a kid?

What a great room. I remember when I was little there were four of us girls sharing a bedroom. We had two sets of bunkbeds in the room and not much elese. It seems the trend is that each child has their own bedroom these days which is such a shame as I loved sharing. Some nights me and my sister would have to stuff blankets in our mouth as we couldn't stop laughing!!

Yes this room looks really different from the normal kids room where bunk beds or study desk and laid out side by side. This is a well thought out room. But remodelling the room once the kids grow up becomes a task.
